Description of the topic: This STSM will investigate research and dissemination patterns of SSH institutes and/or researchers applying a mixed methods approach. The focus of the STSM will lie in the analysis of the (full) output of SSH institutes using qualitative as well as quantitative descriptions and classifications, not only regarding output type or dissemination channel but also regarding type of text and references used within these texts. Furthermore, interviews with researchers will shed light on knowledge production and dissemination strategies.

Objectives: This STSM aims to advance the understanding of knowledge production and dissemination in the SSH (Task 1 of WG1). This is a basic task which is important for the contextualization of each deliverable in WG1 (and thus writing scientific papers): the “overview of national evaluation systems” (GP2) can be set in relation to the results of this STSM; the “overview of peer review practices” (GP3) needs information on the importance of peer reviewed outputs/references; it will finally be a crucial input also for the deliverable “Recommendations for better adapted criteria and indicators” (GP3).

Special criteria for this STSM: the applicant has knowledge of the organisation of SSH research in his or her country and will thus be able to identify one or more SSH institutes he or she will get access to publication lists and interviewees in his or her country.

Results: The proposed STSM will contribute to the Training School and the recommendations for better adapted criteria and indicators for SSH research and will result in co-authored publications.
